Description

LifeSaver Liberty™ water purifier bottle and inline pump

The LifeSaver Liberty™ water purifier bottle is the worlds first and only portable water purifier which is a bottle and inline pump combined.

Using the same advanced purification technology as the original LifeSaver Bottle, the LifeSaver Liberty™ water purifier bottle is a smaller, lighter more versatile version, whilst still robust and easy to use. You can use it to carry water ready for purifying or pump purified water into another container making it ideal for couples. The Liberty is arguably the best water purifier bottle for all outdoor enthusiasts - hiking, cycling, travelling and backpacking.

What does the LifeSaver Liberty do?

It transforms up to 2,000 litres of dirty water from questionable taps, rivers, lakes, streams and - if you're desperate - muddy puddles, into safe drinking water. It does this through two stages of filtration:

  • The Liberty Ultrafiltration Cartridge removes:
    • Viruses - 99.999%
    • Bacteria - 99.9999%
    • Cysts - 99.99%
    • Microplastics - 99.99%
  • The Activated Carbon Filter reduces heavy metals, and chemicals including chlorine, lead, nickel, and cadmium, improving taste and odour along the way
  • Reduces turbidity of glacial, cloudy or muddy water making it look more appetising

How big is the LifeSaver Liberty?

It's about the same size as a regular water bottle:

  • Dimensions: 80 x 80 x 254mm (3.15 x 3.15 x 10 inches)
  • Dry Weight: 425 grams (15oz)
  • Capacity: 400ml (14 fl oz)
  • Purifies up to 2,000 litres (530 gallons)
  • Fast flow rate - 1.2 l/min (40 fl oz/min)

What does the LifeSaver Liberty come with?

  • One replaceable Ultrafiltration Filter Cartridge, capable of purifying up to 2,000 litres of water sourced from lakes, rivers or streams (pre-installed)
  • One replaceable Activated Carbon Disc, for chemical and heavy metal reduction as well as removing bad taste and odour, effective for up to 100 litres
  • One 5ft Scavenger Hose for drawing water directly from the source, meaning:
    • Easier accessibility to water
    • No need to get hands (or feet) wet
    • Purify larger volumes of water in one go by pumping straight into additional containers (including hydration bladders)
  • One storage pouch for the hose and spare carbons

How safe is the LifeSaver Liberty?

  • Independently tested to exceed full NSF/ANSI P231 and WHO2011 ‘Highly protective tier’ drinking water standards
  • FailSafe technology - once the UF filter membranes are blocked, water can not pass through, keeping users safe
  • Water is still safe to consume without an Activated Carbon Disc installed
  • Product materials and water effluent are both BPA and BPS free

Who is the Liberty for?

The Liberty is perfect for solo adventures including camping, hiking, rambling, walking, backpacking, travelling and gap year explorations. See what bushcraft expert Funky Prepper had to say when he took one on his travels

What else do I need to know?

  • Screws right into most wide-mouth water containers, like Nalgene or Hydro Flask bottles
  • Replaceable UF Filter Cartridge has a shelf life of 3 to 5 years from date of purchase - indefinite once primed and stored correctly
  • No chemicals or electricity required
  • No strenuous sucking or pressing required
  • Easy-to-use flow valve to control flow rate
  • Transparent windows to see water level
  • Pump purified water straight into your hydration bladder using the optional connector
  • Loop on the lid for your carabiner
  • Made in the UK

Sometimes it is worth meeting your hero...

Hi, the hero in this case was a portable LifeSaver water purifying or possibly decontaminating personal water bottle.
I remember many years ago watching this product promoted through tv science shows and then to evolve. All the while I considered the justification of purchase far beyond by finances. I told many people to consider it and not to take my word for how brilliant I believed - but to try for themselves. Nobody was disappointed.
I bought one as a treat to myself and I justified the cost simply with 'I deserve to have one'.
I did a taste test with tap water. I live in a very hard water area - my supplier is Thames Water...anyway I used my two home filter systems and my new hero and compared results. It was a hands down win.
The LifeSavered water tastes like mineral water, it doesn't have the chemical bouquet and/or the unpalatable taste.
I was actually right all along but never had the courage of my convictions...til now.

Seems well designed

As a budding Prepper this seems like a very well designed and useful piece of kit and easy to use. The scavenging hose might be very useful as the water sources close to me (within a mile) aren't all that accessible: I don't really want to have to climb over a barbed wire fence, climb into a ditch or fight my way through brambles to fill my water bottle.

Another fabulous review! Thanks Neil. Scavenging hose is designed for exactly the situation you describe. Also good if there are critters in the water that might bite!

Not as expensive as you may initially think

On the face of it, this bottle is expensive, but, given that it is a portable solution to purifying water, then it is actually worth its weight in gold.

There have been occasions when we have been out hiking and run out if water, so, this bottle gives us peace of mind that we can safely drink riven water if needed.

I have primed the filter and given it a test run, and the water tasted like, well, filtered water.

It claims to be able to purify 2000L, which would give you 5000 used at 400ml. I am not expecting to get that many uses, but even if I got half, I would be very pleased.

Does exactly what it claims to in a small, portable package

Although it's expensive, there really isn't a substitute for clean water. If you're planning on travelling anywhere where clean water is not a guarantee - especially out in the wilderness - it might be the best £120 you've ever spent.

It's very simple to use once you've done it a few times and although you don't need to use the hose, it's handy having that option available. As a lightweight, easy to carry solution without the hose, it comfortably purifies just under half a litre of water from pretty much any source. Although using the hose makes it less portable, it also makes it much easier to collect water from pools or similar.

Although I'm only really able to test this using household water (collected rainwater), I can confirm that it seems to work absolutely brilliantly. The water from it is clear and tastes pure. I don't know of other solutions or how they compare in terms of performance or price. However, as a portable drinking solution for anyone who's going to be away from clean water sources for a substantial time, this seems to be an excellent and potentially life saving device.

Uncompromising Water Purity for True Peace of Mind

This LifeSaver Liberty is a serious piece of kit. The ability to remove viruses, not just bacteria, is why I chose it for my travels to remote areas. It's robustly built, and the pump action is straightforward once primed. The included scavenger hose is a brilliant addition for filling from difficult sources or topping up other containers. Yes, it's an investment, but for truly safe water anywhere, it's worth every penny. The 400ml capacity is for personal use on the go; use the hose for bulk filtering.

Fast way to purify water.

This is a remarkable product from LifeSaver which saves an incredible amount of time and effort purifying water and taking care of 1 of the 3 basic things you need for survival. A clean water source in my opinion is the main one, next is food then shelter. Back when I was a lad I was also in the scouts where I learnt how to forage and live of the land, setting snares and skinning rabbits became second nature as with shelter building for when tents we not available and obviously water collection and purification. The two methods we focused on was purification by iodine and sterilisation using Boiling water these would mostly destroy all bacteria and microbes, but does not remove chemicals or toxins.

This LifeSaver bottle can be used in two different ways, the first is a drinking bottle where you fill the bottle with dirty water and filters as you drink. The other method which is my preferred method is to use it as a pump to fill a secondary container. My back pack has a water skin inside with the straw/drinking pipe leading down the right shoulder strap making it easier to drink on the go. I simply use the bottle as a pump that filters the water into another bottle which I then use to fill the skin and the bottle. A brilliant feature is the water stop switch on the side it allows me the time I need to fill the skin without having to start all over again when I want to fill my other bottle.

I read that the filter should filter up to 2,000 litres and is designed in such a way that the bottle will stop working the moment the filter needs to be changed, this gives piece of mind that the filter will always be doing its job. I looked up where to obtain the replacement filter and the how to videos on the LifeSaver website. The filter is in two parts which you can change separately as and when you need to which helps reducing the costs. Overall it fells like a high quality item that has been designed for the end user and longevity in mind. The carbon filters come in packs of 3 and the ultra fine filter can be cleaned and would only need changing when the water flow stops and wont work even after cleaning.

Although it feels expensive it honestly isn't, it works out around £0.06p per litre which is filtered by your own hands the active carbon filter removes all the odours and bad taste as well as many of the unwanted nasties. Replace carbon filters are £15 for a pack of 3 and the ultra fine filter is £60. I do not know how long the ultra fine filter will last, all I know is that you can clean the filter many times over.

It is a fantastic product, one which is highly recommended.

pricey but worth it!"

this is brilliant! its a premium product that shows with the price but also with the useability and the quality build.
I also like the colour :)
Itas very nicely made and fits in the side of my backpack easily.
it takers a few goes to get used to using it but once you get the hang of it then its go go go.
makes outdoor water safer and it tastes like filtered water at home!

its pricey yes but well worth it if youre going anywhere where you may be stuck for drinking water! after all you need drinking water to stay alive!

Very useful for ardent hikers, a bit pricey

Comes well packed and with the additional contents of a bag to hold, a hose to fill from the source and a rubber cap.

Promises upto 2000 litres to be purified, which I haven't yet confirmed in real scenario. This is for serious hikers and especially with UK and Wales in particular has loads of hiking spots and with water that can be unclean or unknown, this can be a huge help to the hikers and night campers.

It is very easy to use. I tried with a known slightly muddy water from a lake into the bottle and the taste out of it felt like straight from a water filter at home.

The price at the time of writing is a bit steep at £119.99 but this is a speciality product and is life saving, so as long as this works, this price is justified I would say.

Essential for Safe Hydration on the Go

Pros
Absolute Peace of Mind: I drank from streams and questionable taps without any gastro issues.

Fast Flow Rate: Pump action delivers a steady flow—no frustrating drips or clogs.

Sturdy Build: Solid polycarbonate bottle and robust pump feel ready for serious outdoor use.

Easy to Clean: Wide mouth fits a standard bottle brush; cartridge swaps in seconds.

Cons
Limited Capacity: 400 ml means more frequent refills on longer days -carry a backup if you go far off-grid.

Pump Effort: Requires a few firm pumps when the cartridge is older; fresh filters are much smoother.

Perfect for wild camping 🏕 2000l life span, 400ml filter bottle

This is a very nice design, a 400ml bottle with 2000l life for purifying water, the filter can last to 2000l of filtered water from streams , rivers when out hiking and camping, invaluable for cleansing water of harmful bacteria, micro plastics and other unwanted nastiness such as parasites and eggs.

This purifier is compact , lightweight, slim just looks like a cool waterbottle but contains powerful filters to make water more safe to drink outdoors or even from taps when travelling.

It does rely on trust like with most filters that it is actually doing the job intended to remove dirt and bacteria from water but with a 2000l water purifying capacity this filter should be good for some time , it's now my go-to filter for wild camping as its a premium product, not cheap but the design is very good.

Amazing

Took this on a recent hiking trip and was seriously impressed. It's compact, easy to carry, and simple to use - even when you're on the move. The water tasted clean every time, and knowing it filters out the nasty stuff gave me real peace of mind. It's also surprisingly sturdy for how light it is. Didn't leak, didn't clog, and didn't slow me down. Perfect for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors, especially if you like to hike long distances or camp.

Reliable, Rugged, and Reassuring – A Top-Tier Water Filter for Serious Adventurers

This is a premium piece of survival gear that lives up to its promise. At first glance, the price tag of around £120 might raise eyebrows—but if you're heading into the outdoors or traveling in areas where water quality is questionable, it's hard to put a price on peace of mind.

The build quality is excellent - solid, durable, and clearly designed for real-world use. The Liberty works as both a bottle filter and an in-line pump, which adds flexibility whether you're drinking on the go or filling a larger container at camp. The scavenger hose is especially useful for reaching tricky water sources without getting your hands dirty.

Yes, there's a bit of a learning curve at first - priming the unit and getting the flow right takes a couple of tries, so I'd recommend a dry run at home before taking it into the field. Once you've got the hang of it, it's incredibly easy to use, even with gloves on.

I've tested it with rainwater and stream water on hikes, and the output tastes like normal, clean water. That's exactly what you want. The included instruction booklet is clear, and it's wise to keep it with the bottle until it becomes second nature.

Is it the lightest water solution out there? No. But it replaces the need to carry litres of water and eliminates the awful taste of purification tablets. If you're hiking, camping, or prepping for emergencies, this could be one of the smartest investments you make.

Highly recommended for anyone serious about off-grid safety and hydration.

The
Great for emergency kit

We have recently started putting together an emergency survival kit for our family. Not like we are real preppers or anything, but just so we have something in case things get out of hand! This water filter bottle is a great addition to the things we already have in our kit. This filter removes 99.9% of bacteria and viruses from the water. You will have to replace the filter inside the bottle after a while, and the filters don't come cheap! But hey, we can't do without water so make sure you have a spare one just in case! The LifeSaver Liberty has been tested and found to exceed the full NSF/ANSI P231 and WHO2011 ‘Highly protective tier’ drinking water standards - so highly recommended.

Good in a pinch, expensive on the regular!

This is pretty good, pretty heavy, but feels well made. The hose is good because it allows you to collect water without having to drink straight from the source. I would trust that it removes everything it says it does. I would only really use it when in a little bit of a bind, given the high price per litre. I have used other solutions before which last for orders of magnitude more, although admittedly they don't filter for viruses so it depends on where you are this would be excellent in somewhere like Nepal rather than having to use the awful tasting purification tablets

FrozenMetroid
Produces crystal clear water which tastes like filtered water at home, but it came from a stream...

This water filter bottle comes in retail packaging and inside you'll find the filter bottle, water hose, storage bag, rubber cap, and a quick start guide. The storage bag is designed to hold the water hose as the bottle doesn't fit inside it as it's too small.

The bottle feels well made with a plastic construction and it has a bit of weight to it. It's a reasonable size and fits in the side pocket of my medium sized backpack. It has a screw off lid on the top which protects the drinking spout, and the bottom screws off to access the filter, which is removeable and replaceable. There are two ways to fill the bottle up and one is to remove the bottom screw lid and scoop up, or pour in, some water. You can also use the included hose which you connect to the bottom of the bottle and chuck the weighted hose into the water. You can then unscrew the very most bottom of the bottle to pull out a pump and you can then pump the water in. Both are an easy way to do it, but I prefer to scoop up the water as I find it quicker. You do have to do this a couple of times before use to prime the filter so make sure you do this before you take it out with you.

I was a little bit sceptical, and nervous, to be scooping water out of a stream ready to drink. The water came out clear and just looked like it was straight from a tap. The taste was clean, just like my water filter at home which really impressed me. I couldn't see anything in the water, and it was crystal clear. To be honest, for the price this is marked up at, I was expecting it to be really good, but it still didn't prepare me to see clean, drinkable water from a stream. The filter is designed to filter around 2000 litres which is a lot of water. When you break it down for cost, it's quite reasonable for saying what you would pay for the same amount of bottled water, so the high price seems more than reasonable when put into perspective. Replacement filters are then £59.99 on Amazon which is even cheaper with the same comparison since it’s half the initial price.

Very impressive water filter which you only need to take this with you instead of a few bottles of water so saves space in your backpack!

Purifies a useful amount of water

Unlike a lot of these this will purify a decent amount of water so you're not constantly faffing about with small amounts of water. A little expensive at time of review at one hundred and twenty pounds bit it feels and works like a quality product and to my mind is worth the money, frankly you either need something like this or you don't and if you do its worth spending the extra for the peace of mind. Do I know if it would work on contaminated water? No, bit it feels like it would and I have been happy using it in a local stream. Happy with it so far.

Potential life saver in an apocalyptic scenario

This is a handy filter for ensuring clean and safe emergency water is accessible - potential life saver, depending on the situation.

I found the instructions somewhat complex, however, a quick look online and it is easy to learn the ropes on how it can be used to drink straight from the bottle, or use it as a pump to fill containers.

Given that the pump can provide 2000L of water, the price per litre pales in to insignificance - the canister is also replaceable, at a price!

Just misses one star due to complexity of use - but once you have it down, it is simple enough.

Great for camping and hiking

I ordered this as I often go on hiking and wild camping trips. It has proved invaluable especially for purifying stream and river water safety and easily.

I was a bit unsure of the price at first but the fact it can purify 2000 litres without replacement means it costs pennies to use - especially compared to the price and weight of carying a supply of bottled water on my trips.

Well made and designed -it filters the water quickly and not only does it taste great I have the confidence to know it is safe.

Amazing water filtration bottle

The LifeSaver Liberty water bottle is quite heavy for it's size, but there is a lot of cleaver stuff packed into one water bottle.

I don't really know how to test how well it actually works in terms of if it does filter out everything it says it does, but it is a well known brand, so am happy to put a bit of faith in it.

It feels great quality and it is well constructed. It is amazing that the filter ca last for 2000L, which is a huge amount of water. The filter is designed to stop allowing water to pass through once it needs replacing, which means it should just start passing through unfiltered water. This is an excellent piece of kit to take out on long hikes when wild camping. When you consider how long it should last, I would say it is also good value, even though it does have a fairly high upfront cost.

A really good water purifier for year round use.

I've had water bottles before but nothing as serious as this one and as user friendly as well. You can take
the water from source and after pumping pressure into the bottle you can drink straight from the container.
Some bottles hold more which I always find too much. But this one is just right after a few pumps you can
then drink it. It is larger than some but I never found it a problem. We are told it will deal with 99% of viruses.
I will give it a good testing this year, So it will get a good testing.
It is well made and should last for years.

Filtered tap water for me

This water purifying bottle from Lifesaver may at first glance seem quite expensive. However, for the stated throughput of approximately 2000 litres it works out at 3p per 500ml bottle. That is quite cheap compared to the cost of buying a bottle of water ranging anywhere from 10p to a £1 per bottle. The filter cartridges are replaceable.

More moderate users, like myself, will just use the bottle to improve tap water. It is quite noticeable to smell a glass of chlorinated tap water and then the same tap water after being 'treated' by this bottle. The chorine taste and smell are gone. Plus, other unwanted tap water ingredients like microplastics are also removed.

A quick test with a water tester shows an average (orange) reading for tap water and a good reading (green) for tap water after using the Lifesaver bottle.

Holiday makers and other travellers would find uses for tap water in certain other countries as well as the more adventurous trekkers could just rely on this one lightweight bottle to scavenge water from streams and ponds.

This is my go-to for tap drinking water in the future.

H20 on the go!

Excellent must have item for the outdoors. This will be great for camping trips and bike rides where we sometimes get caught without liquids, offering you a safe and clean water supply on the go. My hubby uses this daily, he is a trucker and often refills his water bottle from suspect looking fountains in services and lay byes which he is a bit anxious about doing, now he doesn't need to be. What a fabulous product!

LifeSaver Liberty water filter bottle works wonders

LifeSaver Liberty water filter bottle works wonders. I thought this was pricey at first but then realised that what it could do is so worth every penny. It means that when we go off road and away, we can still have clean water and not have to cart loads with us, this is just ideal for that. You get a really good guarantee with it, and its super easy to use, I was also super surprised just how much water it holds and how easy it was to use.
